A Trilogy of Books Explaining Our Future World Order By Award-Winning Bestselling Author Dr Maha Hosain Aziz

"With few female political thinkers today, Dr Aziz is a welcome addition. ... Definitely a global thinker to watch." – DR NOURIEL ROUBINI, CEO of Roubini Macro Associates & author of Megathreats (2022)

"An engaged scholar activist" – DR PARAG KHANNA, author of Move (2021), Future Is Asian (2019) and Connectography (2016)

Her work is a "must read" – DR IAN BREMMER, founder of Eurasia Group & author of Power of Crisis (2022), and KISHORE MAHBUBANI, founding dean of Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy & author of Has China Won? (2020)

NYU MA IR professor, World Economic Forum risk expert & keynote speaker Dr Maha Hosain Aziz helps others make sense of a world with growing global risk through her classes, speeches, books and comics.

In her first book, FUTURE WORLD ORDER (2019), Professor Aziz predicts the world will be defined by a unique global legitimacy crisis in the 2020s, as we challenge the ideas that drove the post-Cold War era. If it is not a US-led world anymore, who's in charge of the international system? If democracy is weakening, is there a better system to replace it? If globalization is failing, is populism the answer? If liberal values are in decline, will xenophobia dominate?

In the second book of this trilogy, A GLOBAL SPRING (2024), Dr Aziz offers more predictions for how our geopolitics, politics, economies and societies will evolve – but in a post-pandemic era shaped by tech, climate and war. In the third book of the trilogy 10 SHOCK EVENTS BY 2030 (2024), she examines the less obvious risks that could be destabilizing for our world order by the end of this decade.

REVIEWS OF FUTURE WORLD ORDER

Dr Aziz has vision. Future World Order is the essential guide for every citizen to understand the major global risks we face - and consider how we may tackle them. With few female political thinkers today, Dr Aziz is a welcome addition. She is definitely a global thinker to watch.

DR NOURIEL ROUBINI, Professor of Economics and International Business at NYU Stern and CEO of Roubini Macro Associates

One fact cannot be denied. Global anxiety has gripped even our young generations on many fronts: geopolitically, politically, economically and socially. Dr Aziz captures and distills the anxiety and thoughtfully suggests how we can leverage the possibilities of technology to get out of it. A must-read.

KISHORE MAHBUBANI, Founding Dean of Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, NUS, and author of Has the West Lost It? (2018)

A book that looks past the headlines to the underlying issues fueling our current world disorder… then offers some persuasive optimism that all is not yet lost. When it comes to political risk, it’s hard not to lose sight of the forest for the trees; this is not a problem for Aziz, making her book a must-read.

DR IAN BREMMER, author of Us Vs Them (2018) and Founder of Eurasia Group

Highly accessible and thoughtfully argued, Future World Order offers both analysis and blueprint. Aziz is tough-minded in her reading of the sources of political, economic, and social crisis in our contemporary area. But she also offers a pathway through the morass. ... Future World Order is sophisticated and stimulating, its ideas worth taking seriously.

DR MARGARET LEVI, Winner of 2019 Johan Skytte Prize, Professor of Political Science and Director at Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University

It takes an engaged scholar activist like Dr Maha Hosain Aziz to adequately capture the worrying scope of today's overlapping crises of legitimacy. But with her finger on the pulse of the next generation, she also highlights how technology can positively spur citizen engagement to bring about a new social contract - both at the national and global levels.

DR PARAG KHANNA, Managing Partner of FutureMap and author of Connectography (2016) and The Future Is Asian (2019)

A rising voice in governance and public policy, Dr Aziz delivers an engaging and thought-provoking read on the future of our increasingly interconnected world. In Future World Order, she weaves together the disruptions, transitions and risks created by the global legitimacy crisis and a population learning to leverage technology.

DANIELLE KAYEMBE, Female Futurist, author of The Silent Rise of the Female-Driven Economy (2017) and CEO of Greyfire Impact

The systems of government we've been living with are coming down. It's not a matter of if or even when, but how. Aziz shows that accepting and fostering this change is the surest path toward a soft landing, peaceful transition, and sustainable outcome.

DOUGLAS RUSHKOFF, author of Team Human (2019)

AMAZON REVIEWS OF FUTURE WORLD ORDER

A well-researched and articulated book by New York University (NYU) Prof Maha Aziz, a promising global thinker. She explains the major risks we face and offers plausible solutions to critical issues... a great addition to the global dialogue in international relations.

Great book! It was easy to read, even for those without an academic background in risk. It enlightened me with types of risks we should be concerned about, and also, motivated me to spread the words around what we can do to make changes to collectively reduce the risks globally.

Maha Aziz's fundamental thesis in this book is that there is a global crisis of legitimacy in Geopolitics, politics, economics and the society. She brilliantly captures and articulates our deep angst at the current state of the world and provides a hopeful and sensible cure. A fast and enjoyable read.

I read this mainly while traveling for work. I found it clear, provoking, and accessible. As a scientist focused on developing medicines, the book’s topic seemed to fall well beyond my daily pondering. I picked it up at a friend’s recommendation, and it quickly opened my mind. It’s a great reminder to look beyond my chosen microcosm and to think and participate in shaping our greater society, because it matters.
