E.CA Competition Law & Economics Expert Forum – keynotes by Mundt and Régibeau

17 April 2023, Berlin

This year, the E.CA Expert Forum, organised jointly with ESMT Berlin, focussed on Welfare in Competition Policy. The sessions were aimed at practitioners, enforcers, and academics from the fields of law and economics.

Andreas Mundt, president of the Bundeskartellamt, and Pierre Régibeau, Chief Economist, DG Competition, were holding the keynote speeches, providing insights into recent developments in competition law and economics from a German and European perspective.

Besides the acting chief economist of DG Comp, three previous chief economists – Lars-Hendrik Röller, Damien Neven and Kai-Uwe Kühn – as well as leading experts such as Veronika Grimm, member of the Council of Economic Experts (SRW), Tomaso Duso, member of the Monopolkommission, and Natalie Harsdorf Borsch, acting director general of the Bundeswettbewerbsbehörde, provided insights into topics ranging from (energy) price regulation, underenforcement in merger control, and measurement of sustainability up to the ongoing discussion on state aid and trade, and the EU’s response to the IRA .

We would like to thank all speakers and participants for having contributed to this event!
