An idea of the future
FOUR interprets the skyline as a modern urban living space. The result is a vision of the future with inspiring perspectives. The futuristic towers rise up to a lofty 233 meters, offering unparalleled breathtaking views.
At the same time, a sustainable, open, lively and socially balanced quarter is growing – with 600 apartments in various sizes, and partly as subsidized living space, with high-quality office space, hotels and urban flair. Gastronomy, retail, city squares, a public roof terrace and green islands enliven the quarter. New access routes connect it with the city center and the banking district. FOUR is the new face of the city – in direct proximity to sun, clouds, wind and weather.

“For me, Frankfurt is a special city. I find it incredibly attractive, culturally it’s very exciting – perhaps even avant-garde. When I led the architecture class at Hochschule für Bildende Künste, the renowned Städelschule, I initially felt like a guest in the city. But if you really get to know Frankfurt, you can quickly fall in love with it. That was one of the reasons why we opened an office in Frankfurt.
I’m looking forward to working on FOUR and returning to the Main again. This project is not only about the aesthetics of the towers, we also want to turn a district in the heart of the city into a tangible experience. People will live, work, shop and savor their experiences here. We distill distinct urban elements, and open the area to its inhabitants and visitors. FOUR forms an extension of the inner city, creates new spaces and brings people together. What once was a no man’s land, soon a roof garden, green islands and gastronomy will beckon you to linger.
The skyline will not only be complemented by four new towers, it will also be further developed with a unique concept. The almost sculptural skyscraper family creates the impression of a coherent neighborhood within the skyline. This view is constantly re-composed in the eyes of the viewer, depending on the direction of the viewer’s gaze and the incidence of light. I am proud that with this project we can give the city something that it has long since already become: something very special.”

The architect Ben van Berkel and his team from UNStudio faced the challenge of reconnecting an area separated from urban life for decades to the heart of the city. The design of the four towers stands not only for a forward-looking and inspiring architecture but also for a sustainable urban development concept. FOUR is a new, multifunctional, inner-city area – a new neighborhood for the whole of Frankfurt.
